Tips for Players and Families new to Aqua Pigeons Water Polo

These tips are meant to help families new to water polo.  They are in no way a complete guide, just information families have found helpful.

General help:
1. Players should be competent swimmers to get the most out of water polo.
2. New players sometimes find that practice can be difficult the first few weeks...do not give up!
3. Goggles, a swim cap, or hair tied back, are helpful for the conditioning laps that are done almost every practice.
4. There is no  "uniform" for APWP, but a water polo suit is recommended.  Girls should play/practice in a one-piece "team" suit.
5. APWP now has an official  team suit, which can be ordered the first part of every season.

Tips for tournaments:  Tournaments include 2-3 games in one day.  They are great fun and really teach the players the game.  Don't miss them!
1. If your player is not going to be able to participate in a tournament, please notify Aqua Pigeons ASAP.
2. Take healthy snacks, water, goggles, towels (extras if playing numerous games on a cold day), and warm clothes for between games (swim parkas are great).
3. Spectators will appreciate chairs (sometimes the seats are not convenient for viewing the games), and an umbrella (for rain or to create shade).
4. If you take pictures, post them to this website!
